Head of College

Role: The Head of College is ultimately responsible for all matters pertaining to the operation of the residential college and conference operations at Trinity. The Head reports to and is directly accountable to the College’s council for all matters of policy and finance. In the absence of the Head, the Deputy Head is responsible for the college and its operations.

Mike Shearer graduated from the University of Western Australia with an honours degree in Organic Chemistry and, since completing a Graduate Diploma in Education, has had a successful career in education. Mike has been Head of Chemistry, Director of Studies and, prior to his appointment to Trinity, was Director of Planning at Hale School. Overseas experience includes a year teaching Chemistry and being a house tutor at Uppingham School, a co-educational boarding school in England.

In his undergraduate years, Mike spent 3 years as a resident of St. Columba College and returned to join the Board in 1998, before becoming a member of the inaugural Council of the amalgamated St. Columba and Kingswood colleges.
